Alpine Travel
Our traditional Alpine Travel Class is currently being redesigned. In the future look for a variety of shorter classes, each focused on one aspect of outdoor recreation.
Basic Climbing Basic Climbing Class is taught by volunteers from Central
Washington Mountain Rescue. It is intended to provide the beginning
mountaineer with the skills needed to climb a majority of the peaks in
the Pacific Northwest. Knots and rope handling, belaying, rappelling, rock
climbing, ice ax techniques, snow and glacier climbing, crevasse rescue
and other skills will be taught through a combination of evening classes
and outdoor field trips. Classroom sessions are held at Yakima
Valley Community College.
